We, as Christians, have a legacy to leave, and it’s all about a love of Christ to permeate the music and reach the hearts of all of the people out there, that don’t know him and do know him.”
–Lauren Ashley Daigle
Lauren Ashley Daigle is an American contemporary Christian music singer and song writer whose heart is for people to know God, experience His love, encourage and impact the world through her music. When she was a child, God spoke to her about music; she thought she could sing mainstream music because she was afraid to sing Christian music to isolate her friends.
As time went on, she realized there was something different about her, and so she craved for God to be a part of her every moment. Lauren Ashley Daigle was signed into a record label called Centricity Music where she released her debut album, How can it Be, in 2015 which reached no. 1 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums Chart. After since her debut album in 2015, she has won so many awards from American Music Awards in 2016, 2017 and 2018, Billboard Music Awards in 2017 and 2019, GMA Dove Awards in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, and Grammy Awards in 2016, 2017 and 2019.
Daigle was born on September 9, 1991 in Lafayette, Louisiana to Laura and Mark Daigle. She has two siblings; Madison and Brandon Daigle. Lauren Daigle started singing as a child and she was found to sing all the time even while walking around the house. This gave rise to her mother nicknaming their home “the music box.” Though, Daigle did not think about music seriously until she had a debilitating illness called “cytomegalovirus” when she was 15 years old. This lead to her being housebound and kept out of school for two years because she could catch anything that was airborne, her illness was immune deficiency. She saw this period as a blessing saying it was one of the best things that had happened to her; she used the period to learn how to sing and improve her musical skills. Daigle attended a charter school, which she graduated early completing a year and a half of class work in six months. She did mission work in Brazil for one year. She later attended Louisiana State University for her college which she earned a degree in Child and Family Studies. Daigle sang background vocals on an EP for a local band called “The Assemblie”. After the EP was released, Centricity invited her to attend a workshop where the singer for the main event at the workshop fell ill; she was asked to fill in. This led to her singing on the Jason Gray single “Nothing is Wasted”. She was signed into Centricity Music label in 2013 and released her first single “Light of the World” from the album Christmas: Joy To The World, a collection of holiday songs from various Centricity artists. Her first single served as a solo introduction to the Christian music scene where she gained much attention. She released the EP How Can It Be in September 2014.

When she was younger, she would set up Grammy parties at her house where she would invite all of her friends over, and her whole family would sit in the living room glued to the TV. But she would just dream of someday going there, and would watch the red carpet interviews over and over and study what was happening. With her unique sound, smoky and sweet voice, Lauren Daigle made a very impressive mark on the Christian music scene and yes, she fulfilled her dream of participating in Grammy parties and even winning so many awards in a short time of doing music. She hopes that as people listen to her songs they encounter more about God, know him, and see his love and character.
